Do you balance your checkbook?

You should be treating your calories like cash in the bank. Unfortunately we dont get an immediate overdraw fee or else believe me.... We would not be going over our calories so frequently. I have been tracking every morsel on livestrong and even eating healthy (not crazy and I dont diet) and I cannot believe how fast 1310 calories go. Between my two supplement shakes and vitamins that take up 110 calories I am left with 1200 calories to get me from 8 am to 10pm. I seriously am a huge advocate for something like a fitbook or livestrong.com
Pay attn to those calories no matter what you eat and you can watch the scale go down.

A nightly routine can set you up for success.

I know for myself if I go into something with a plan, I am a lot more likely to finish and succeed. I get a daily email from Jonathan at No Excuses Workout and I love his "3 nightly routines to set you up for fitness and weight loss success".

1. Schedule your workout. actually plan what you will do and at what time.

2. Plan your food and drinks. Prepare ahead what you can.

3. Get your workout clothes and/or workout bag ready the night before.
This is something so simple that can make a big difference. You have done one step in the workout process already, just finish with the actual workout. This is a great and easy,I truly think it will help whether you are going to the club, running outside or working out inside your home.

Morningstar! I love you.

So if you are a mom trying to get in shape, feed your family quickly and are now fearful of most meats (or not), I totally suggest Morningstar mealstarters, sausage, chicken burgers etc.....
I just tried the meat crumbles tonight in a quesadilla and they were AWESOME!
I am very interested in buying my meat/poultry from an organic farm this summer but for now this is going to work awesome!

This weeks weigh in.........

Went well..... I lost 1.4 lbs. Not quite 2lbs like I wanted but not bad after an Easter brunch and a full weekend off of working out. We'll see how this week goes as I have a retreat this weekend, my redemption will be Zumba training and TONS of cardio on Sunday.
almost at the "last 20 lbs" mark!

Workouts can trigger weight gain.......

Yesterday my friend posted her status on Facebook, shocked that she hadn't burnt more calories running for a short time mixed with some fast walking. I found a great article on hungry girl about our misconceptions of calorie burn. very interesting, read on...........

We're not saying you should avoid excercise in order to lose weight (sorry lazy people!) But the truth is, research shows that people grossly overestimate how many calories they burn during excercise. Not only that, but physical activity often makes people hungry. And since we tend to think we burned more calories than we really have, we can end up consuming MORE calories than we've burned. Remember, it all comes down to calories in vs. calories burned. So don't use a workout as an excuse to pig out. Be realistic about how many calories you are burning while excercising. Use the data provided on the cardio machine if you have entered all your info (without lying to the machine!!!) Or check out online resources to get a good idea of the effect your workout is actually having on your calorie balance. Then you can make adjustments to make sure your workouts help you achieve your goals!

ps- I personally use livestrong.com to track my calories in vs calories burned. They will even let you know the exact number to eat to lose X amount per week or to stay steady in your current weight. Also will tell you how much you burned during any given excercise. Its a great site!
